hi Nathan, thanx for stopping by my blog. i checked out Mr. Brightside briefly and it's pretty nice for a first rig. if you're interested in rigging may i suggest Fahrenheit Digital and The Gnomon Workshop stuff? and definitely pick up mel/python/c++. focus on one aspect of cg, and get very good at that, instead of trying to tackle on everything. so if you want to be a animator focus your time on that instead of modeling and rigging all at the same time. its good to know alittle bit of everything but more importantly you want to have a specialty. for inspiration the old disney movies, pixar and studio ghibli films are all very good. my favorites are ratatouille, castle in the sky, and 101 dalmatians. good luck with your study and congrats on becoming a dad.
